CryptoVault, a London-based cryptocurrency startup, needed a mobile wallet application that could compete with established players like Trust Wallet and MetaMask. They wanted an app that combined institutional-grade security with a consumer-friendly interface, supporting multiple blockchain networks and fiat on-ramps. Tyche Labs was brought on to take the project from concept to launch on both iOS and Android.

The Challenge

The cryptocurrency wallet space is fiercely competitive, with users expecting flawless security and near-instant transaction processing. CryptoVault's previous attempt with another agency had resulted in an app that was too slow, had confusing navigation, and lacked support for newer blockchain networks. Users abandoned the app within days of downloading it. The new app needed to support 15+ blockchain networks, process transactions in under 3 seconds, implement biometric authentication, and provide a seamless fiat-to-crypto conversion flow — all while maintaining the highest security standards for private key management.

Our Solution

We built the application using Flutter for cross-platform consistency, with native modules for sensitive cryptographic operations. Private keys were stored in hardware-backed secure enclaves on both iOS and Android, ensuring they never left the device. The app architecture followed a clean separation between the UI layer, business logic, and blockchain interaction modules, making it easy to add new chain support. We implemented a custom transaction engine that batched and optimised gas fees, saving users an average of 15% on transaction costs. The fiat on-ramp was integrated through a partnership with a licensed payment provider, supporting instant purchases via debit card. Push notifications kept users informed of price movements and transaction confirmations in real time.
