FinFlow needed a modern, real-time trading platform to replace their ageing desktop application. Their existing system struggled with latency, had a dated interface that frustrated traders, and couldn't scale to meet the demands of their rapidly growing user base. They approached Tyche Labs to design and build a web-based platform that could handle thousands of concurrent data streams while delivering a seamless trading experience.

The Challenge

The existing platform was a monolithic desktop application built over a decade ago. It suffered from 3-5 second delays on price updates, frequent crashes during peak trading hours, and an interface that required extensive training for new users. FinFlow was losing clients to competitors with faster, more intuitive platforms. The new system needed to process over 10,000 price updates per second, support advanced charting with 50+ technical indicators, and maintain sub-100ms latency for order execution — all within a standard web browser.

Our Solution

We built a high-performance React application powered by Next.js and backed by a Node.js microservices architecture. Real-time data streaming was handled through WebSocket connections with automatic reconnection and data buffering. We implemented a custom virtualized rendering engine for the order book that could display thousands of price levels without dropping frames. The charting module was built on top of a lightweight canvas renderer, supporting over 60 technical indicators with GPU-accelerated rendering. PostgreSQL handled persistent data storage while Redis managed session state and real-time caching. The entire infrastructure was deployed on AWS with auto-scaling groups to handle traffic spikes during market volatility.
