Bristol, worked remotely
App developers in Bristol
We build iPhone and Android apps and websites for Bristol businesses, working remotely at fixed prices. Bristol's mix of aerospace, robotics, supercomputing and animation means many apps here sit next to hardware, research or heavy media.
We reply within one working day.
Local context
Engineering, research and animation
Isambard-AI, the national AI supercomputer created by the University of Bristol, is at the National Composites Centre on the Bristol and Bath Science Park. [1]
Airbus describes its Filton site as home to Northern Europe's largest concentration of aerospace engineers, leading in wing design, fuel and landing gear systems. Bristol Robotics Laboratory is a partnership between UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol, and Aardman's registered office is in Bristol. [2][3][4]
What that means for your app
Spin-outs and engineering firms often need an app that talks to a device over Bluetooth, shows sensor data, or runs a model on the phone. We build those natively on iPhone and Android, and can run machine-learning models on the device so data stays private and works without a signal.
Research teams usually need a prototype that real users can try before a funding milestone, not a finished product. Our iPhone app MVP is a fixed scope, built for exactly that, and the code is yours to take further.
How we work with Bristol businesses
We work remotely, with every client, wherever they are. The first conversation is a 20-minute call by phone or video. After that you get your own client portal from day one: milestones to approve, requests with response targets, documents, invoices and a written monthly report on a plan.
We don't have an office in any city on these pages. Our only address is our registered office in London, which takes post and is not somewhere to meet. We don't hold in-person meetings as standard. If a workshop in the room matters to your project, say so on the first call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can do it before you commit to anything.
Working hours are London time, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30. Contracts are fixed-scope and fixed-price, governed by the law of England and Wales.
Fixed prices
The same prices for Bristol as everywhere else, agreed before we start. Prices exclude VAT.

Questions we get asked
Usually, yes, over Bluetooth Low Energy or Wi-Fi. We'll ask for the device's protocol documentation and a unit to test with. If the firmware side is still changing, we agree a stable interface first so the app and the device can be built in parallel.
Often. Apple's and Google's on-device frameworks handle speech, text, image and vision tasks without sending data anywhere, and smaller custom models can run on recent phones. Our own app Cuefold does its speech recognition on the device. We'll tell you if your feature needs a server.
No. What makes an app project go well is a clear scope, a fixed price, regular builds you can install and a single place to see progress, and all of those work the same over a video call. We send a test build you can install on your own phone at each milestone, so you judge the app itself, not a slide deck.
Book a 20-minute call or send the enquiry form. We reply within one working day. If it looks like a fit, we send a written proposal with a fixed scope, price and timeline, and nothing starts until you sign it off.
