Edinburgh, worked remotely
App developers in Edinburgh
We build iPhone and Android apps and websites for Edinburgh businesses, working remotely at fixed prices. Edinburgh is a centre for banking and investment and for computer science research, so many apps here handle money or data with care.
We reply within one working day.
Local context
Finance and computer science
NatWest Group's registered office and head office are in Edinburgh, and Baillie Gifford's UK head office is at Haymarket Square. [1][2]
The University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics describes itself as the largest computer science department in the UK, and the university hosts ARCHER2, the UK National Supercomputing Service. [3][4]
What that means for your app
Financial services apps have to earn trust quickly: clear sign-in with strong authentication, no surprises about fees, and no customer data in analytics or crash logs. We design those in from the first screen.
University spin-outs usually have the science and need the product around it: an app that real users can install, an admin area and a way to charge. A fixed-scope MVP gets that in front of users and investors without a long open-ended build.
How we work with Edinburgh businesses
We work remotely, with every client, wherever they are. The first conversation is a 20-minute call by phone or video. After that you get your own client portal from day one: milestones to approve, requests with response targets, documents, invoices and a written monthly report on a plan.
We don't have an office in any city on these pages. Our only address is our registered office in London, which takes post and is not somewhere to meet. We don't hold in-person meetings as standard. If a workshop in the room matters to your project, say so on the first call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can do it before you commit to anything.
Working hours are London time, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30. Contracts are fixed-scope and fixed-price, governed by the law of England and Wales.
Scots law is a separate legal system from the law of England and Wales [5], so if your company needs a contract under Scots law, tell us before the proposal.
Fixed prices
The same prices for Edinburgh as everywhere else, agreed before we start. Prices exclude VAT.

Questions we get asked
Scots law is a separate legal system from the law of England and Wales. Our standard terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, as they say on our terms page. If your company needs a contract under Scots law, raise it before the proposal and we'll discuss it; don't assume either way.
Yes. We'll ask about who owns the intellectual property (the university, the company or both) before we start, because it decides who the code and the store accounts are registered to. Everything we build is assigned to the company that pays for it.
No. What makes an app project go well is a clear scope, a fixed price, regular builds you can install and a single place to see progress, and all of those work the same over a video call. We send a test build you can install on your own phone at each milestone, so you judge the app itself, not a slide deck.
Book a 20-minute call or send the enquiry form. We reply within one working day. If it looks like a fit, we send a written proposal with a fixed scope, price and timeline, and nothing starts until you sign it off.
